This masterful establishment is a gathering place for information on the most famed ladies of the old West, the guiding force behind the cowboys that made Texas the legendary western icon that it was. In the past this place has had multiple fascinating exhibits on the history of the hearty breed of women in the old West. There have been multiple films on various aspects of cowgirls as the Ride: A Global Adventure exhibit. Some have showcased the apparel of the cowgirl, while others have looked into the daily lifestyle routine. There is always a new video here that will teach you many interesting facts about cowgirls that you did not know.
Just within the doorway is the Rotunda Hall of fame. In this massive columned area, you will find hundreds of fascinating pictures of old western cowgirls. These pictures are so many that it is referred to as 'Lifetiles.' Each one is actually a video monitor embedded into the wall and the pictures are constantly changing. Every time you look around, it is a new image of the cowgirl's lifestyle.
For the children in your family, as well as the adults, there is the Connie Reeves Discovery Corral. In this area your children will get a look inside what it is like to be a cowboy or cowgirl in the old West era. There is a campfire area where you sit around and pretend like you are eating old west cuisine, a teepee that the kids can actually go into, cowboy clothing that you can wear, and even a story time where you or someone else can read your children a fascinating western tale.
In the Kinship with the Land exhibit, you and your family will find actual artifacts and antiques related to the old West cowgirl. There is real cowgirl clothing, cowgirl pistols, and wall panels depicting how the cowgirls would actually ride a horse, among other fascinating antiquities.
While you are here, you will absolutely have to stop into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame gift shop and get a few items to remember the trip by. There are tons of cowgirl items for sale here, including key chains, toy pistols, pictures, refrigerator magnets, and toy horses, to name a select few.
